As Entries Secretary I am the main point of contact between the competitors and the club.
I have received a lot of letters following the 2009 Wyedean some of which I have printed below.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that helped at signing on and turned out to do it in some rotten weather conditions.

Thank you for putting on a fantastic event this year!!!
We are Very proud of all the organising teams efforts.
Unfortunately Sion Matthews and myself in car 232 were unable to stay for the awards presentation as we had to get back to Manchester for the ANWCC Annual awards night presentation.
We won our Class (1.4C) and were 5th o/a 1400cc, not bad for 18year old Sion's first drive on a Forest rally.
Kind Regards
Gary Matthews car 232

Lilian,
I am sure you are being heaped with praise for the running of this years event and would like to to add mine to the pile!!
I hated every minute of the ice but applaud you and your team in getting the event to run and then making such a success of it. From the HQ staff to the stage marshals everyone contributed to the days sport and I would like you to pass on my thanks.
The standard and quality of the on-stage snowmen this year was remarkable and as I managed to miss all of them added to the days enjoyment.
Thanks again and see you next year....

Hi Lilian,
I just wanted to send an email to express my thanks for all of your efforts in organising a great rally last weekend in what must have been very difficult conditions given all the snow.
I was not a competitor but a spectator and myself and my boys had a really great day out - it was their first rally as they are only 3 and 6 and they had a great time (see picture attached).
I used to co-drive when I was younger and was lucky enough to sit alongside Mark Perrott on road rallies and navigational scatters when we were both at University together a long time ago.
I must admit that last Saturday has rekindled my love for the sport and I am now very keen to get back into it - although my wife wont thank you for that!
Anyway, well done and thanks again. We all very much look forward to next year's event.
Regards,
Andrew Boswell.

Hi
Please pass our thanks on to all your organisers, crews and everyone connected with running the event.
I must say I was a bit dubious about starting, especially as we were in a 1400 MG, but guess this will be the closest we get to doing a Finish/Norwegian or Swedish rally!
Finishing was award enough.
Thanks again
Kind regards
James Weaver/Teresa Butler, car 246

Hi Lilian,
Thanks for a crazy event! I've never gone so slowly on a rally or had less traction, at least it was cheaper than going to Sweden!!!
Much appreciation to the whole organising team for enduring the conditions to keep the rally running. Please allow studded tyres next year.
Kind regards,

Lilian,
I was present on Saturday, although when I did wander into the HQ you weren't about :-( At least for the first time in years I actually got to see a few stages...and I don't mean the racecourse.
Congrats to one and all for keeping the event 'on'...speaking to most competitors, they were 'with' FoDMC in the decision.
On behalf of our competitors, 'thanks' for allowing us to use your event as a round of our Championship, here's hoping we can do the same in 2010.
Kind regards.

Lilian,
Many thanks to you and the entire organising team for an unforgettable experience last Saturday.
I have not done a full snow rally since 1995 and even that wasn't as demanding as this one.
I think you got it spot on in your decision to drop Mailscot and it definitely made the best of what the weather and daylight allowed.
Let's hope the 2010 version is slightly less of a challenge for us all and I look forward to coming back to the Dean then.
Thanks again
Simon.

Lilian,
Just a quick note to say a big thank you for everyone's efforts in makingthe event happen in the most testing of circumstances!
It really was appreciated by everyone connected to car 17 as we really enjoyed our day.
Thanks to everyone at FODMC.

Hi Lilian,
Apologies again for not staying for the awards ceremony but as I mentioned, I was keen to get back on the road over to Cambridge!
To compound things, I stupidly left my briefcase behind. If anyone comes across a grey zip-up briefcase, it's mine! It has the rally paperwork in it (road book, pace notes, map book and several OS maps along with a couple of clipboards and in the zip pocket there's a blue Swiss Army pen-knife along with pens/pencils etc.
Apologies for adding to your hassle but thanks again for all your efforts and those of the team in putting such a good event on in very tricky conditions.
Best regards, Robin

The briefcase has been found and will be returned to Robin

just a quick word of thanks for a great days rallying, really glad you all took the decission to run it under very difficult conditions. thanks to every one helped to clear the stages and all marshalls for making the extra effort.
many thanks, paul wakely and callum black car 226.

Lilian
Can i just pass on our thanks to all the organisers of the Wyedean rally , Difficult conditions and decisions you were all stars
Thanks
Martha Aitken / Paul Hudson Car 268

Lilian,
Phil asked for it in writing so here it is!!!
"Yes, you did the right thing to run the rally"
Theo and I had a laugh all day and enjoyed every minute of it. There wasnt one marshal who was down in the dumps, everyone was up for it and so helpful, I think that made the difference. All the competitors I spoke to said you did the right thing.
Well done to all the team, It is a credit to you all.
Kind regards
Les

Lilian,
Many happy returns for your birthday (21 again? ). Can you pass on to Phil and all the rest of the organisers my personal thanks for all the effort and stress that you all endured over the week. It was great fun if not a little hairy and frustrating on the stages but well worth the effort getting the car there. Once again many thanks !!
Regards, Paul Spooner Car 7

Hi,
Just a short note from a couple of ex competitors and now spectators to say thanks for going ahead with the Wyedean yesterday, in what were obviously difficult conditions.
The Wyedean is always a favourite of ours to spectate on, and this year excelled and was without doubt, one of, if not the best rally we've ever been to.
Please pass on our praise to all concerned, including the marshalls, organisers and willing volunteers and not least the competitors who had the balls to put on such a great spectacle J
WELL DONE and see you next year.
Many thanks
Kingsley and Ed

Hi,
Just would like to thank you all for your great efforts and commitment in putting this event on.
We are so proud of you!!

Hi Lilian,
Just to a quick note to thank everyone involved with the running of the Wyedean Rally on Saturday. All of the officials and marshals did a great job to keep the stages open in the tricky conditions - special thanks to the marshal at Passage Control A (Beechenhurst Lodge) for the sweets - much appreciated.
As this was my first ever rally it was thoroughly enjoyable and I will definately be back again next year (although hopefully not quite as much ice please!).
Once again, thanks for a great day. COMPETITOR NO. 265 (PEUGEOT 106 RALLYE).
Kind regards,

Hello Lilian,
Nice talking to you again tonight. I'm sure you must be exhausted from your great efforts over the weekend to make the event work so efficiently for all our enjoyment. I know you were down on Signing On team members but still managed to make life really efficient for us competitors which is a testament to your organisational skills.
The Wyedean has some great stages but it's the professional way that its run which is, I'm sure, a big contributory factor in attracting those rare full entries.
Once again, many thanks (your generous volunteering reminds me to get out and do some more marshalling !)
Gordon Davies.

Hi Lilian,
Thanks for all your help prior to the event. Wanted to thank you in person but you were busy in the backroom at signing on.
Hope everything has calmed down now.
Enjoyed event. If car is still in one piece hopefully we'll be back next year.
Thanks again

Hello Lilian,
Well it was not the debut into stage rallying that we wanted - as usual I was working on the car until the thursday & thought I had covered everything - we had a good uneventful journey down & arrived early - all looked very well organised - but then we went to scrutineering & FAILED - I had temporarily misplaced the brackets for the door bars & for some reason thought that we did not have to have them so arrived with no door bars. The scrutineers - especially David ? (think he had his son helping) & Paul Loveridge tried there best to help - we thought we had got some twice but in the end it was not to be.
Talk about learning the hard way !! Totally my fault - cannot understand why I did not check - we were gutted & just wanted to go home & drown our sorrows.
Needless to say it took me 10 mins to find the brackets today.
Thanks to all the organisers, marshals etc. for putting on an excellent event in difficult circumstances & to all who tried to help us - down but not out - we will be back
